Copthill to Tallington Walk

DSC00475The walk started in the grounds of Copthill School, Uffington, and headed east along the route of the old canal over private land.

Uffington bridge. The canal arch was the far side of the River Welland.

The canal ran under Uffington Bridge beside the River Welland.  The arch for the canal has been filled in to strengthen the Uffington road above.

Canal at Copt Hill 012The three locks between Uffington Bridge and Tallington have few remaining traces. We identified the sites of these locks:

  • Upper Lock – lock 11.
  • Lower Lock – lock 10.
  • West Marsh Lock – lock 9.
